“The Amazing Sex Life of Rabbits” at Soho Playhouse

3 out of 5 stars

The expositional foreplay of "The Amazing Sex Life of Rabbits" is rather long and awkward, but when the indecent proposal at the center of the play reaches its eventual (and erotic) climax, the play is uproariously satisfying. It's too bad playwright/director Michael Shaw Fisher's characters aren't more fully drawn: A financially struggling couple improbably hosts a superrich duo seeking a sperm donor – they’re all largely archetypes playing out power dynamics in over-the-top style. The quartet’s shifting motivations, like the details of their unusual pact, mostly don't pass muster. But a fully committed cast gives the audience a fun, twisty time. — Adam Z. Horvath
