Julia May Jonas’ "A Woman Among Women" turns out to be two plays in one —which is one too many. It's a smartly written, effectively acted, gender-switched riff on Arthur Miller's "All My Sons," in which a well-buried secret slowly turns a warmly interdependent community into divisive antagonists. But it's also a metatheatrical swamp of self-conscious touches that distract from the themes and plot, rather than deepen them. For instance: Why seat audience members on stage, then usher them off to make room for the set? Not for any reason relevant to the otherwise-compelling story. — Adam Z. Horvath
