Can we start filling in the slots for City Center’s 2036-37 “Encores” season? If so, “Escape to Margaritaville” could certainly be a contender by then. At least that’s what came to mind while seeing the New London Barn Playhouse production of this tropical-minded Jimmy Buffett jukebox musical. Mind you, it’s not a perfect show, but it’s awfully entertaining – and with time, it will perhaps age even better (some tweaks and cuts might help, too). This summer stock staging emphasized all the musical’s inherent fun – and while the cast had both hits and misses, the sunny spirit was there in abundance. — Charles Passy
