“Fallen Angels” presented by Roundabout Theatre

4.5 out of 5 stars

A lesser-known Noel Coward farce, "Fallen Angels" rises to bubbling, subversive joy in the hands of stars Kelli O'Hara and Rose Byrne. Simultaneously elegant and gloriously goofy, both actresses (directed by Scott Ellis) are clearly having great fun reanimating a comedy once deemed scandalous for depicting married women discussing sex and hankering after their mutual former lover (the TV host Mark Consuelos, agreeably bemused.) O'Hara, in a part originated by Tallulah Bankhead, evokes Carol Burnett with her creative pratfalls over a chair and down a staircase. Tracee Chimo, as the too-worldly maid, would steal scenes from any other cast. — Adam Z. Horvath
