“Fish” at WP Theater
2 out of 5 stars
You can admire how Melis Aker has tackled so many storylines in her new play “Fish.” But you can also say: “Pick a plot, any plot.” This is a coming-of-age tale about a teen girl of Turkish descent who calls London home. But it’s also about her contentious relationship with her mother. And it’s about her missing brother who may – or may not – have joined a terrorist group. Plus, swimming lessons figure significantly into the story, so the set incorporates a “pool” of sorts — rather clumsily. The cast puts plenty of effort into this muddled affair, but can’t redeem it.
