The wedding industry is a $100 billion behemoth — and much of that is undoubtedly driven by brides-to-be with dreams of the perfect day. Such is the backdrop for Catherine Weingarten’s “I Wanttt a Unicorn Frappe!!!,” a surrealist comedy looking at one woman, Jenny (Rachel Lin), wishing for such bliss — and how the unicorn frappe (yes, an actual drink) comes to symbolize her literally sweet fairytales. The play scores big in the metaphor department, but there’s something too over-the-top about the writing that makes the comedy less than comedic. Similarly, the production’s acting and direction are a bit much. — Charles Passy
