“Misterman” at Theatre Row
3.5 out of 5 stars
Perhaps more than anything, Enda Walsh’s “Misterman” is an actor’s showcase, allowing a performer to capture what it means to be a man gone mad. In that regard, Daniel Marconi aces the role in this one-character play about a religious fanatic in small-town Ireland living out a day in his disturbed life. But the drama, rich with echoes of Joyce and Beckett, can nevertheless be too one-noteish – the character is fairly established from the very beginning, so there’s not much else to know. Still, the proceedings are enlivened by Silin Chen’s arresting scenic design. — Charles Passy
