“Prince Faggot” at Studio Seaview

3 out of 5 stars

Imagining the future for a queer British royal, “Prince Faggot” raises interesting ideas, though it never fully delivers. Writer Jordan Tannahill explores power, sexual fetishes and human connection, but these themes get stale across the show’s overlong two-hour runtime (sans intermission). However, the cast elevates the production, delivering revelatory, fourth wall-breaking monologues. Of special note: N’yomi Allure Stewart’s closing monologue is utterly breathtaking. But comparatively, the monologues make the central play feel disappointingly tame despite its explicit content. — Justin McCallum
