“Bus Stop” at Classic Stage Company
3.5 out of 5 stars
Seeing this new, fairly solid production of “Bus Stop,” one can’t help but wonder why William Inge’s midcentury drama isn’t revived more often. It’s a tellingly sad-funny story of people at a crossroads — literally and figuratively — and it’s a lesson in sexual chemistry on many levels. This staging, directed by Jack Cummings III, plays up the comedy slightly more than necessary, but it delivers the dramatic goods by the end. The choice of having an all-Asian American cast is a potent reminder that acting is inherently not about race, creed or color -- a good actor simply serves the material. 3.5 out of 5 stars. — Charles Passy
