“She Loves Me” at Bucks County Playhouse

4 out of 5 stars

Bock and Harnick’s “She Loves Me” may be overshadowed by their classic, “Fiddler on the Roof,” but it remains a model of the American musical. Plus, who doesn't love a show that offers a memorable paean to vanilla ice cream? Kudos to Bucks County Playhouse for bringing it back as part of its season. The story, based on the 1937 play “Parfumerie,” dives into the lives of middle-class beauty-shop employees and their desire for human connection. This production plays up its warmth and charm, delivering admirably behind a tremendous cast, including Kennedy Kanagawa and Kate Rockwell shining in featured roles. — Ryan Kinkade
