“Spare Parts” at Theatre Row
4 out of 5 stars
This is a good season for what I call harrowing-in-their-implications plays, as in dramas that tackle the scary implications of science and technology. David J. Glass’ “Spare Parts” joins “Data” and “Marjorie Prime” in terms of works fitting this bill. And a harrowing play it is, one dealing with cloning and, yes, using spare parts (or blood) to let a human live longer. Some of the drama is slightly overwrought and the set is a nothing burger, but the cast is so superb it hardly matters. With some tinkering, this production could clearly find a second life on Broadway. — Charles Passy
