Brendan George’s intriguing new play “The Vessel” takes its name from the Hudson Yards attraction that gained notoriety after a series of suicides. The “plot” — and yes, I use that term loosely — involves three young Vessel workers whose job is to keep watch for any potential jumpers. What emerges is a Gen Z version of “Waiting for Godot” — the trio ponders matters of life, death and assorted ephemera. The play suffers from a lack of forward momentum, but sticks with you on a philosophical level. And the powerhouse cast — Will Ingram, Anastasia Locke and Sofonyas — elevates the material considerably. — Charles Passy
