Giant onstage video screens were at the heart of Kip Williams' audacious adaptation of "The Picture of Dorian Gray" with Sarah Snook. Now they help power Williams' modernization of Jean Genet's 1949 absurdist classic "The Maids." Blown-up phone selfies (often with various distorting filters) accessorize the updated tale of a wealthy, vacuous influencer whose two maids envy, revile and plot to murder her. A contagious intensity among the show's three fine actresses (Lydia Wilson, Phia Saban, Yerin Ha) propels the increasingly surreal action. Though both the dialogue and the video flourishes can feel repetitive, it's a wild ride. — Adam Z. Horvath
