“Well, I’ll Let You Go” at Studio Seaview
4.5 out of 5 stars
“For me, 60, 70 years is not enough.” This line from Bubba Weiler’s “Well, I’ll Let You Go” is so romantic that Studio Seaview, the play’s presenter, even sells coffee mugs in the lobby emblazoned with it. But a love story is only a side story in this piece about the absurdly tragic rituals we share around mourning. During the play, a widow (a stoic Quincy Tyler Bernstine) is greeted by everyone from a balloon-toting funeral director to a mooching drifter to help her “heal.” The acting and script prove so powerful that, well, they will not let you go. — Jonathan Dahl
